| Thursday afternoon, February 24th, 15:00 |
| Frank had a very good run in from Mile 101, arriving 34 minutes
ahead of Ed Hopkins, and almost an hour ahead of John Schandelmeier
and Sebastien Schnuelle. The dogs look super and the vets checked
them over very carefully and could not find any problems at
all. Feet, wrists, shoulders, weight and hydration are all good!
So Frank is very, very happy. He let us know that there was
no trail at all over the summit when he went over, and it was
SO warm that he stripped down to his Ulfrotte underwear and
went over the steepest part of Eagle summit in only his merino
wool long underwear. Also, before reaching the summit, he stopped
to let the dogs have a pee, took his hands off the steering
bow for a moment to adjust his hat, and lost the sled. He ran
down the trail yelling at the team, and Decaf, our senior veteran
on the team, turned the whole team around, averting a potential
disaster -Yeah Decaf!! After 101, he put Sprocket on lead and
she really picked up the speed of the team. So all the dogs
have made a major contribution in some way. See below for photos

| Thursday morning, February 24th, 10:00 |
| The first four teams left Angel Creek in a crowd early this
morning, between 4:12 and 4:44. One more team left at 5:50,
and one team was resting there. Between 6:38 and 6:51, four
teams left 101 on their way to Angel Creek: Schnuelle, Schandelmeier,
Hopkins and Frank. Handlers were stranded in Central until this
morning, due to a closure of the road over Eagle Summit. They
will all head out in a caravan this morning |

| Wednesday night, February 23rd |
| The first teams reached Angel Creek Wednesday evening. Lance
Mackey, Hugh Neff, William Kleedehn and Dave Dalton all arrived
within a 32-minute span of time. Such close arrivals in Angel
Creek inevitably make for an exciting finish. It's been quite
a while since we've had several teams still in contention at
the last checkpoint. Jon Little arrived in Angel Creek just
over an hour later, and Gerry Willomitzer was on his way in
from Mile 101.
Frank arrived in Mile 101 at 2:24 Thursday, Feb 24th. Ed
Hopkins and John Schandelmeier left Central shortly after
Frank, and three more teams were on their way late Wednesday
night. Arrival and departure times for Mile 101, plus travel
and rest times, are posted on the Mile 101 Info Page.
Given the times from the first three teams, and for Frank,
the trail conditions must be very good. Photos of the summit
