2008 Quest Team
Livingston - 9
years, 65 pounds, 6 Quests
The oldest and most experienced dog in our team, Livingston is running his 6th Quest. He is a very humble and unassuming nature. He is a very steady leader who does well in tougher trail conditions.

Elsa - 6 years,
45 pounds, 4 Quests
One of our smallest dogs, Elsa has a big attitude. Although she weighs only around 45 pounds, her enthusiasm spreads through the team (and into the musher!). Elsa is one of our rescue dogs and the only dog not bred and raised in our kennel. She will probably be one of the leaders at the starting blocks. She can be very stubborn at times, creating a mini-battle of wills. She is a favourite of Fabienne and Saul (and Anne).

Carter - 5 years, 65 pounds 5 Quests
Last year Carter was probably my most consistent leader. A torn shoulder ligament forced him out of the race. When he is at 100% he’s great and he will see his share of lead this year for sure.

Sakura - 5 years,
50 pounds, 3 Quests
Sakura is a great little leader, although
still a bit tentative at time. Saul found her to be a
great dog in the Copper Basin. She is renowned for jumping
over the gangline while waiting to hit the trail -- no
one has a vertical leap like Sakura!

Val - 6 years, 52 pounds, 4 Quests
| |
Val is miss steadiness. She is not big in stature but she is large in heart. You really have to make sure she always runs in booties. While she will run on lead when required, she is best suited to the mid-team. I usually run her with her brother Mischief.

Mischief - 6
years, 64 pounds 4 Quests
Mischief comes by his name honestly. He likes people better than other male dogs and he’s the only member of the team who occasionally has inter-personal issues with other males. We have come to a rather clear understanding of what behaviour is not acceptable and it seems to work. He is a hard-working dog who thrives on affection and will run on lead when necessary. He’s another one of my favourites.

Falcon - 6 years,
74 pounds, 4 Quests
A brother to Val and Mischief, Falcon is the biggest dog in the team, weighing in at over 70 pounds. A very easy-going dog, he will run on lead, but probably prefers to be in the middle of the team. He never complains and has a good sense of humour.

Banshee - 4 years,
61 pounds, 2 Quests
If this was a beauty contest, Banshee would win hands down. A super leader, he sometimes works too hard. On lead, Banshee sets a fast pace. He works really well with Elsa and Sakura in particular. He never gets grumpy and when the going gets tough the tough gets going – that is our Banshee.

Tarragon - 2 years, 56 pounds, 1 Quest
Along with his brother Basil, Tarragon is one of the best natural trotters on the team. A trotting gait is preferred to loping on long-distance runs. A very quiet and shy dog, he is totally committed to me.

Basil - 2 years, 59 pounds, 1 Quest
More outgoing than Tarragon, Basil gets very excited at the start of each run. But like his brother he is very handsome. Sometimes he can be a picky eater, but hopefully we have enough culinary variety to keep his interest.

The next four dogs were only 18 months old when they ran their first Quest...
We usually do not start dogs in the Quest until they are at least two, but these pups demonstrated that they truly belong. Their father is one of our really great dogs, Stanley, and their mother is Glacier. They are all named after glaciers around the world. I’m so proud of all the young guys – they are the future.

Yahtsee - 18 months, 54 pounds, 1 Quest
In many ways Yahtsee is a carbon copy of Tasman. He is a very happy dog who brings a lot of physical strength to the team. He and his brother will be key to getting over the summits we climb.

Khumbu - 18 months, 54 pounds, 1 Quest

This handsome young fellow is a clone of his father Stanley. He sets the tone for the team, both physically and mentally.

Super enthusiastic, he will be a strong leader one day. He is a good trotter and turning out to be very dependable. He also has a great attitude.

Tasman - 18 months, 54 pounds, 1 Quest
Like his brother, he is always ready to go. He prefers loping to trotting, but with the longer distances of the Quest I think he will discover a trotting gait. He is always happy.
