Dogsled Day Trips

Day trips by dogsled offers many exciting opportunities to enjoy Yukon's amazing winter scenery. Get up close and experience the excitement of dog mushing.

Takhini Express Half Day Trip

The Takhini Express, our half-day trip, will take you through some extraordinarily beautiful scenery on a section of the Yukon Quest trail, along the Takhini River.

Our tours run with one or two guests per sled. Participants have plenty of opportunity to drive a team. But if you would rather ride, just let us know. Group sizes are limited to four sleds. You will learn about harnessing and booting-up a team, as well as balancing, steering and braking a sled. Allow 3 hours.

Dawson Trail Full Day Trip

The Dawson Trail Day Trip is one of our most popular tours. This adventure takes you through some extraordinarily beautiful scenery along the historic Dawson Trail and the Yukon Quest Trail.

Our tours run with one or two guests per sled. Participants have plenty of opportunity to drive a team. If you prefer to ride, or want a solo sled, just let us know. Group sizes are limited to four sleds. You will learn about harnessing and booting-up a team, as well as balancing, steering and braking a sled. You will have lunch on the trail, while your guide shares their knowledge of mushing and Yukon history. Allow 6 to 7 hours.

Average temperatures at this time of winter are between -2° and - 24° Celsius / 28 to -31 degrees Fahrenheit, but extremes may be as low as -45° Celsius / -50 Fahrenheit. We ask you to bring adequate clothing to withstand these temperatures.
You may buy or rent winter clothing in Whitehorse or at Muktuk.

 

This tour has many elements of an expedition and therefore changes in the itinerary due to weather and road conditions are a possibility. Muktuk Adventures explicitly reserves the right to adapt the tour itinerary.
